With millions of people using their iphones, ipads, smartphones and cell phones to browse the internet, a specially developed “mobile website” is an important piece of a business owners online tool set for online or internet marketing. Some smartphones, like Apple’s iphones, will scale any website down to fit on a smartphone browser but everything becomes so small it can be very hard to use.

The solution is to create a mobile website designed specifically for smartphone and tablet use. A properly developed mobile site will detect the mobile browser and deliver the mobile site to smartphone and tablet users without affecting the primary site at all. This way users get the website best suited for their browsing experience.

Often, mobile sites reduce the amount of content and options available so that browsers can access important information; contact information, phone number and directions easily while still aloowing browsers to switch to their “full site” if they choose.

For an example of this technology visit our corporate website on your laptop or home computer at WEBv5.com and then visit our mobile site by using your cell phone, iphone, droid or other cell phone with an internet browser. Now click on www.WEBv5.com and you will see our mobile site.

If you are interested in discussing a mobile website for your business, please contact us using the contact form to the right, and we will get in touch with you to discuss the options and possibilities. At WEBv5 we can use your current website to create a special mobile website for you starting at just $499.

If you are looking for other examples of mobile websites check out www.NFL.com – the NFL’s website and then use your smartphone to view the site and you will see how it is specially developed for smartphone compatability. Many news agencies also have their own mobile version to make mobile browsing easier and more intuitive.

Contact us today to learn about mobile website development for your organization.

Beginning with Facebook, Twitter and many others, social networking has taken on a new value in the world of online business. With updates arriving daily, the ability for a group of consumers to connect with and influence business has never been greater. Conversely, the opportunity for businesses to connect in a meaningful way with their customers has been a component not fully realized until now.

Recognizing the incredible opportunities available to the innovative company, Google, long a front runner in the world of technology and now to social networking has once again expanded their impressive list of achievements to include the online business
community. Their presiding goal of allowing the independent business person the tools to make their small businesses competitive with world-wide conglomerates is a breathtaking advance in technology.

Beginning with the original rollout of Google+, which with dedicated service has begun to rival Facebook and Twitter, the parent company Google set out to realize their vision. Continuing their strong tradition of forward thinking and understanding that laying the groundwork with business required several different components, not just the social communication aspect, Google set about constructing a series of Apps that overlapped and all worked together to guide a business through any needed activity. With the online business community clearly in mind, the available opportunities for positive growth potential on Google+ is abundant and full of developing avenues.

With the timely arrival of Google+ the moment is now for the savvy entrepreneur to make these newest tools available to their own enterprise. By joining the Google+ network and establishing a web presence, the available rewards will soon become apparent. Not only will the business cement its name and trademark early on, but the ability to link with the ever emerging newer Google+ clientele only increases.

Anyone who uses Google will notice that they have integrated social networking into their search results. It’s called “Google +1″ and it is similar to facebooks “like” button. Where “liking” a page told your friends you liked the product, service or idea, it did nothing for your search engine results. The is where google’s new +1 is different.

Google is using the number of “+1′s” to help determine search order rankings.

The good news for WordPress users is that there is a WordPress Plugin to integrate Google’s +1 into your website’s pages and blog posts. You can even use it in your photo galleries!

If you are interested in your google search results then you should add google‘s +1 service to your website. At WEBv5 we can add this to your website for $75 and we offer one day turnaround.

(Besides being a ventriloquist Todd is also a musician and songwriter).

The timing was perfect. Todd had also met three other musicians/songwriters with similar tastes, talents, and goals. Todd, along with Brian Duvall, drums/vocals, Mike Donoho, guitar/vocals, and Marcus Willett, bass/vocals, have developed a musical magical chemistry. The results : a new debut album of original songs already receiving rave reviews a new show touring Performing Arts Theaters during the winter months, and beginning March 1st 2011 a 2 year contract in the show “Todd Oliver and Friends” at the Jim Stafford theater in Branson Missouri.

As few people know, website hosting companies backup only some of your pages and most of your files. What hosting companies don’t backup is your database. So if your server crashed or your website got hacked your website would be gone! Yes, GONE! Unless you had a professionally done backup like those offered by Website Backup System.

We worked very hard to create a website backup system that could backup all the pieces needed to easily restore a down website. But that isn’t the only challenge to creating the perfect website backup system. We also needed a way to make the backups safe and secure. We worked with two professional partner firms to create a unique method of encrypting files and storing them to Amazons S3 Cloud Servers.

The first time this project crossed my mind was when I got a call from a guy whose website had been hacked. He was trying to resotre his site with the files he got from his web host. He didn’t understand how to do it and he asked my help to get him back up and going. The problem was that the database hadn’t been backed up so when his site was restored all the items were gone from the shopping cart. All his blog posts and comments were gone. His pages were even gone because his site had been a WordPress site and even the dynamic pages were stored in his database. He didn’t lose everything, but almost.

Then about two weeks later I got a call from a friend who had wanted some changes made to her website. She called her web designer (she should have used WEBv5 from the start…) and for weeks the woman hadn’t called her back. She soon discovered that her web designer was out of business and had moved away. Since her designer also hosted her website she wasn’t even able to get to her files.

Within two weeks I met people who lost their websites and thousands of dollars each because their websites were not backed up. I knew I needed to do something to make sure this didn’t happen to my clients. Website Backup System was born!

After talking to about 30 clients I found that most of them wanted nothing to do with backing their sites up (they had enough to do to run their business without adding one more thing!) so I decided to create a fully automatic system that my clients could set up (or have me set up) and then never have to think about it again – until they need it!

If you have a website with an e-commerce store, one built on WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or other CMS (Content Management System) you should consider backing up your website so it can’t be lost.

For as little as $7.99 you can have peace-of-mind knowing that your site is backed up and can be easily resotred in minutes.

Website Hosting, for those of who don’t know, is where your webiste “lives” on the internet. The website lives on a “server” which “serves” the website up when it is called for.

I have been in the website development business since 1995 and in that time I have had just about every possible website hosting solution that exists or that has existed. Website hosting is one of those things you should never have to think about and it should always just work. Website hosting is like “electricty” in that you take it for granted on the 362 days a year everything is working perfectly, but when the power goes out you realize how much you have lost. When your website goes down or slows way down or you are having trouble getting and send emails it can be frustrating, especially if you are not an “IT person.”

I am choosing to write about website hosting now becuase the landscape of the industry is changing again and it has caused some stress among my clients.

WEBv5 is NOT a web hosting company although we do host microsites. For the most part, WEBv5 clients arrange for their own hosting and to help clients choose from the endless competition, I have always offered three options that seemed to provide great quality and a reasonable cost; GoDaddy.com, 1and1.com and HostGator.com

Recently though, Godaddy.com servers have been really slow. I don’t mean really slow. I mean REALLY SLOW!!!! So bad, in fact, that I asked my client to call GoDaddy and see if they could move her to a different server. The customer rep told my client that slow servers are a part of the game and there was nothing they could do. GoDaddy has build their reputation on awesome customer service and I have always found them to be great in everyway. But not this time.

Not only did GoDaddy.com lose a client but I am nervous about referring people to them. I am a big GoDaddy.com fan and it kills me to say anything even half-bad about them, but maybe they just should be in the hosting business. If you care about server speed try one of my other recommendations.
